They originally had heavily religious views influenced by their time in the region and T'ea was a rebellious and troublesome youth. His father died when he was young, leaving him to grow up with just his mother. Given the nature of his fathers death (killed in service of the church), he was as heathen as they came. It caused his mother a great amount of distress. The only thing to ever change T'ea was, in fact, the birth of his younger sister.Love wasn't something his mother had ever thought would come back into her life, but it seemed fate could be kind. His stepfather was a good man--but he too had a troublesome child from his past. Originally the hyur who married his mother and gave rise to his little sister had tried to leave the horrors behind, but they followed him.T'ea's bitter step-brother originally sought to end the life of T'ea's little sister--using the voidsent he'd made a contract with to do it. Since her birth, T'ea had turned over a new leaf and was training as a paladin from an elezan mentor. His training paid off and his senses alerted him to the danger. He arrived in time to get between his younger sister and the voidsent.Instead of death, the voidsent took possession of his body. In the scuffle he accidentally slew his step-brother. Fearing for the safety of his family from his perceived crime and the voidsent now living inside him, he chose to flee and has not seen his family since. While he's gained a better control over the voidsent and its craving for aether, his time in its clutches has left its mark.He bears a set of horns and fangs now from the beast, as well as claws--but the largest consequence is his blindness. Despite this he's come to fear what might happen if the voidsent would leave him--that it might find its way back to his family and slay them. He's stopped looking for a cure and has chosen to be its prison--and its tomb.He now wanders Eorzea as a mercenary for hire--but don't let that fool you, his heart is always in peace and has developed a knack for making tea that, were he not so indisposed, would aid him well in the tea industry.
